We are Aseli — the home of the white Riesenmäuse and many more marshmallow specialities. What began in 1921 with a small Bonboniere is today a third-generation company: a Berlin family brand with a heartfelt passion for good marshmallow — made to recipes we'll never give away.

Alfred Seliger and the white mouse
It all began with a boy named Alfred. His father was a master confectioner, and Alfred loved nothing more than spending time in his father's factory — dreaming of the most delicious sweets. He learned the craft, developed a recipe that is still closely guarded today, and went from shop to shop with his handcart. His most popular creation: the small, sweet, white marshmallow mouse. In 1921, he passed his master craftsman's examination and founded his own company.
Michael Seliger & Max Szelies
Today, Michael Seliger, the founder's grandson, and works manager Max Szelies run the company together — already the third generation after Alfred and his son Heinz. What has remained is what has defined Aseli from the very beginning: the old family recipes and the handwork that make our marshmallow unmistakable.
How the Aseli name came about
The name is a small tribute to our founder: from the letters of his name — Alfred Seliger — the word Aseli was formed. To this day, it is inseparably linked to the little, sweet marshmallow mouse. In this way, our founder's name lives on in every one of our specialities.
