Hand-boiled. Hand-finished. Hand-packed.
In our Berlin manufactory, we create the marshmallow specialities that have defined Aseli since 1921: following our founder's recipes, with handwork in every step and the love of detail that makes our characters unmistakable.
See how we make our products
Our brand film shows how we produce in our manufactory — not quite the way it was 100 years ago, but still with a great deal of effort and heart.
Handwork in every step
To this day, our marshmallow is made following the traditional recipes of our company's founder — in three steps of handwork we wouldn't dream of giving up.
Hand-boiled
The base mixture matures in traditional copper kettles — slowly and evenly, so that the aroma becomes round and balanced.
Hand-finished
Finishing is pure handwork: the iconic eyes are piped onto each character individually — a small step that gives our mouse its unmistakable look.
Hand-packed
Finally, the characters are decorated by hand and lovingly placed into their packaging. Every single piece.
Copper kettles for a balanced aroma
We still boil the base mixture in traditional copper kettles. Copper conducts heat quickly and evenly — this prevents the sugar solution from burning and creates the balanced aroma that defines our marshmallow specialities.
Every character a little one of a kind
Our cute characters are decorated by hand and lovingly placed into their packaging. This closeness to the product is part of our tradition — and the reason every character is a little one of a kind.
What you can rely on
To us, manufactory means not only handwork, but also great care with raw materials and hygiene. A few things that simply go without saying for us.
GFSI-certified
Despite being a manufactory, we are certified to GFSI Global Markets — a recognised standard for food safety.
Natural colours, non-GMO
We only use natural colourings and do not use genetically modified organisms.
Allergen-friendly
Our products contain no allergens requiring declaration and are gluten- and lactose-free. We keep our raw material suppliers' specifications on file.

Meet the people behind the mice
Behind every character is a family story: Alfred Seliger started out with a small Bonboniere in 1921 — today his grandson carries on the business. Find out who we are and where we come from.
